ORAs play a very important role in the operating room by collaborating with the nurses, surgical technicians and surgeons to efficiently and effectively manage the flow of the OR. Job growth opportunity for Operating Room Assistants allows for progression to an ORA II and to an ORA III. ORA IIs are primarily responsible for room turnovers, sterile supply management, case cart preparation, and inventory control. ORA IIIs function in this capacity as well but they are also able to order and maintain specific par levels in specified areas, set up anesthesia lines, and assist with positioning, lifting and/or transferring patients.
