Position: Network Engineer
Shift: Day shift. In-office presence: 1 day per month and as needed. Requires travel to multiple Main Line Health facilities.

Essential Accountabilities:
- Maintain computer networks, systems, and devices, including software, next-generation firewalls, virtual private networks (VPNs), wide area networks (WANs), local area networks (LANs), virtual local area networks (VLANs), routers, and other physical network-related hardware.
- Effectively work with all seven layers in the Open Systems Interconnection (OSI) network model in a network with mixed vendor equipment.
- Oversee comprehensive network patch and upgrade cycle to ensure that all equipment, devices, and software are up to date and patched.
- Develop and implement long-range technical solutions for the best-of-breed network infrastructure to support the business units. Planning includes network sizing, performance monitoring, and cybersecurity solutions.
- Work to fully implement network quality of service (QoS) and VLAN as needed by business units.
- Installs and maintains LAN and WAN hardware infrastructure. Coordinate installations or upgrades with users, building facilities staff, vendors, electricians, and other technical services staff.
- Provide immediate response and/or investigation of system alerts as a senior-level troubleshooter in a complex network environment. Able to direct and train others in responding to system alerts.
- Prepares and maintains documentation for network cabling, backup, disaster methodologies and procedures, and connectivity infrastructure. Ensure that documentation is available and up to date.
Interact with third-party maintenance vendors on network hardware, assist and coordinate all service calls by vendors.
Qualifications:
- Thorough understanding of LAN/WAN technology and protocols, including but not limited to Border Gateway Protocol (BGP), Enhanced Interior Gateway Routing Protocol (EIGRP), Open Shortest Path First (OSPF), Transmission Control Protocol/Internet Protocol (TCP/IP). Virtual Extensible LAN (VXLAN), Spanning Tree, Uniform Resource Locator (URL) Filtering, Malware Prevention, Threat Prevention, Domain Name System (DNS), IoT Security, and Software Defined WAN (SD-WAN).
- Experience with Aruba Wifi infra, Palo Alto firewalls, and Cisco network devices.
- Understanding of Fundamental network architecture and design elements.
- Use of network Monitoring and response solutions for troubleshooting/resolution.
Experience:
A minimum of 3 years experience in network engineering, and a minimum of 3 years of hands-on experience with LAN/WAN technology
Education:
- Bachelor of Science, or certified equivalent experience. Strong interpersonal and excellent communication skills (written and verbal) required.
